Hello everybody, I hope you had a wonderful holiday. I love Japanese songs and I used to listen to a Japanese program on the radio when I was very young. A customer of mine gave me a "Kokeshi" for the very first time. She is beautiful and it gladdens my bedside table. I love Japanese things such as Ikebana, Origami and so on. There is an Origami that I likes called "Abre e fecha" in Portuguese, but it has a very different name in English, "Fortune Teller". The girls used to play when they were in school. They wrote things on it and had so much fun! There is a website that teachs us how to this one at http://www.ikatbag.com/2009/05/origami-part-2.html

Cute kokeshi! I love Japanese children's songs. At one recent quilt show, there was a series of quilts all on the theme of those children's songs. I spent a long time looking at them and I think I knew all the songs. We made those origami fortune tellers back when I was a kid too. I forget what we called them but I had never heard the word "origami" at that time.
ReplyDeleteHello Julie!! I also love Japanese songs. There was a station in Brazil called "Voices of Japan" that I used to listen in 1972 at 6:oo a.m. :)
DeleteThe quilts on the children's songs must be lovely!! Yes, there is a film that passes through our minds with memories. We recall things forgotten.
My daughters used to play at school with it. I think it is so beautiful. We have many Japanese friends in Santos and there is one veterinarian that came in Kasato Maru ship that arrived here in Santos in 1908.
the Kokeshis are so cute! I love it!!!
Hugs .... Sandra xx
